John P. Salvo, M.D.
John P. Salvo, Jr., M.D., is the Director of Sports Medicine at Cooper Bone and Joint Institute. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and has expertise in arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, knee, hip, and elbow. He specializes in knee ligament (ACL) reconstructions, shoulder instability, rotator cuff repairs and hip arthroscopy. He has lectured both nationally and internationally and has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as book chapters on these topics.
Dr. Salvo attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA and did his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He completed his fellowship training in sports medicine at the University of
Miami in Miami, Florida. During fellowship, he served as assistant team physician for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well as a team physician for the Florida International University Golden Panthers and the University of Miami Hurricanes. Before coming to Cooper, he served as assistant team physician for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Philadelphia Flyers, and the Philadelphia Phantoms. He currently is a team physician for the Philadelphia Wings lacrosse team and team physician/consultant for several local high schools and organizations. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

Joe Torg, M.D.
Dr. Joe Torg is an Attending Physician at the Hahnemann Sports Medicine Center and a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the MCP Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. The former Director and Co-Founder of Temple Sports Medicine, Dr. Torg has also directed Penn Sports Medicine and the Joe Torg Center for Athletic Trauma. Dr. Torg has been an important authority in the area of sports medicine for over 30 years.
Dr. Torg has focused much of his life's work on the prevention and care of athletic injuries. Included in this work, is groundbreaking research into the proper shoe wear to prevent knee injuries and his important contributions in the area of prevention and treatment of cervical spine injuries in athletes. He has published or presented lectures on the cervical spine on approximately 200 occasions. Dr. Torg's main interest now is the education of athletes, their parents, their coaches, and medical personnel about sports safety, including cervical spine injuries. Dr. Torg serves as the Co-Chair for the Adam Taliaferro Medical Advisory Board.

Merrick Wetzler, M.D.
Dr. Wetzler graduated from Yale University during which he was an All-Ivy League wrestler and won a gold medal at the Maccabiah Games. He continued his education at Temple University School of Medicine and completed his Orthopedic Residency at Boston University. After finishing his residency, he completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Medical Center, the Rothman Institute and Lankenau Hospital & Medical Research Center. Dr. Wetzler has assisted in the team coverage of the Philadelphia Eagles, Flyers, Phillies and Wings, as well as Rowan University during his fellowship. Dr. Wetzler joined South Jersey Orthopedic Associates in 1995.
Dr. Wetzler has been voted Top Doc in Sports Medicine by his peers in 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2006 (SJ Magazine). He is on the Board of Directors of Maccabiah USA/Sports in Israel and the Associate Medical Director for Team USA in the 2005 World Maccabiah Games,Medical Director for Team USA in the 2007 Eurpopean Maccabiah Games and Medical Chairman for the 18th World Maccabiah Games in the summer of 2009. He is a member of the United States Rugby Union Medical and Safety Committee and is or was the team Orthopedic Surgeon for Rutgers-Camden University, Eastern Camden County Regional High School, PembertonTownship High School, Cherry Hill West High School, the Jersey Wahoos Swim Team and South Jersey Rugby Football Club. Dr. Wetzler is also an Associate Editor for Arthroscopy: The Journal or Arthroscopy and Related Surgeries.
Dr. Wetzler specializes in Sports Medicine, Shoulder and Knee Reconstruction, Orthopedic Trauma and General Orthopedics. Dr. Wetzler is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is a member of the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, United States Olympic Committee Sports Medicine Society, American Medical Association, as well as the Camden County and New Jersey Medical Societies.

 Mary Schmidt, Magee Rehab
Mary Schmidt Read, PT, DPT, MS serves the Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center of the Delaware Valley (RSCICDV) as the Spinal Cord Injury Program Director and Research Coordinator at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital. Mary holds an active license as a Physical Therapist in both NJ and PA, and is a PT graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, with a Master’s and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Temple University. Mary has been part of the SCI Model Center for over 25 years and served as a physical therapist, an administrator and a researcher. She has also held various positions in home health care, private practice and an extensive academic teaching career. Mary was a leader in the formulation of the NeuroRecovery Network, which is a select group of clinics in the US supported by the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation and the CDC, providing a highly specialized activity based therapy, known as Locomotor Training, for which she also lectures and publishes. In her present capacity, she also supports SCI research efforts, either administratively or clinically, as well as serving as a primary trainer of SCI outcome measurement for multicenter clinical trials on a national and international basis. Besides assuring a comprehensive continuum of clinical care and program development, Mary’s work within the Regional SCI Center incorporates all aspects of evidenced based practice, financial accountability and outcome measurement.
Mary continues to serve on a local, regional and national level in professional organizations such as American Physical Therapy Association, American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA), and the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM)

Casey Christy. MA, ATC, CSCS
Casey Christy, MA, ATC, CSCS has been the head athletic trainer at Eastern High School in Voorhees, NJ since 1994 and served as Adam Taliaferro’s athletic trainer during his high school playing career at Eastern. He has been active professionally in several capacities, including serving as president, public relations committee chair and governmental relations committee co-chair for the Athletic Trainers’ Society of NJ. For several years Christy wrote a sportsmedicine column for the Courier-Post. He also contributed articles for the NFL Youth Fund Project, an educational program for youth football coaches and parents about injury prevention and conditioning. Inducted in the Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey’s Hall of Fame in 2009, Christy also is an adjunct instructor at Rowan University.
