Players on Blue and White Rosters Set to Kick off ATF Classic on June 25 at Rowan University

Glassboro, N.J. -- Southern New Jersey's finest football players, who were selected for the annual Adam Taliaferro Foundation All-Star Football Classic, were introduced to the public on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Rowan University.

The top senior stars from the region got together for the first time with their coaches and even posed for their first team photos.

The game will be played June 25 at Rowan University in Glassboro at 7 p.m., and proceeds will benefit the Adam Taliaferro Foundation.

Speakers included Taliaferro, foundation President Tom Iacovone, head coaches Pete Goetz (Triton High, White team) and Paul Callahan (Buena High, Blue team), and player representatives from both teams.

The annual game attracts about 7,000 fans and is the major fundraiser for the foundation.

Speaking on behalf of the White roster was Washington Township High school star running back Brandon Colavita, who will play next season at the University of Pennsylvania.

"It is an honor to be a teammate of the best players in the area, and this will be a great way to close out my high school football career," Colavita told the nearly 300 people in attendance.

Taliaferro, the former Eastern standout, was paralyzed while making a tackle for Penn State in 2000. He has made a remarkable recovery and is now an attorney for the law firm of Montgomey, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads, LLP in Philadelphia.

The Adam Taliaferro Foundation (www.taliaferrofoundation.org) was started in 2001, and has raised nearly $300,000, helping others who have incurred spinal injuries throughout the tri-state area.

The mission of the foundation is to not only provide financial but emotional support for victims of spinal cord injuries and education to treat and prevent future injuries. In addition, the foundation provides yearly scholarships to high school students.
